What to do
Operators must replace components before exceeding their life limits and perform all applicable maintenance tasks within specified thresholds and intervals starting from 27 February 2020. They must revise the Aircraft Maintenance Programme within 12 months of the effective date to incorporate the updated Airworthiness Limitations Section. Any discrepancies found during maintenance must be corrected within the specified compliance times or before the next flight if no time is specified.
Summary
EASA Airworthiness Directive 2020-0024 is an airworthiness directive issued by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency affecting Fokker F28 Mark 0070 and Mark 0100 aeroplanes. It mandates compliance with updated Airworthiness Limitation Items and Safe Life Items as specified in Fokker Services Engineering Report SE-623 issue 19. This directive ensures continued airworthiness by requiring operators to implement maintenance tasks and life limits defined in the updated Airworthiness Limitations Section.
What changed
EASA Airworthiness Directive 2020-0024 supersedes the previous AD 2018-0159 and introduces new and/or more restrictive maintenance tasks and life limits as detailed in the latest revision of Fokker Services Engineering Report SE-623 issue 19. It retains the previous requirements but updates the maintenance program to reflect the latest safety standards and instructions for continued airworthiness.
Why it matters
This directive is critical for aviation professionals as it ensures the safe operation of Fokker F28 Mark 0070 and Mark 0100 aeroplanes by enforcing updated maintenance requirements. Operators, maintenance organizations, and compliance teams must adhere to these updated tasks and life limits to prevent unsafe conditions and maintain regulatory compliance under EU regulations. Failure to comply could result in unsafe conditions and regulatory violations.
