EASA AD 2024-0123
Landing Gear — Hydraulic Line Restrictor Check Valve — Replacement
Summary
EASA Airworthiness Directive 2024-0123 is issued for Fokker Services B.V. F28 Mark 0070 and Mark 0100 aeroplanes. It addresses the replacement of hydraulic line restrictor check valves in the main landing gear hydraulic system to ensure continued airworthiness and safety. The directive applies to specific part numbers of restrictor check valves installed in the hydraulic return line of the parking brake shut-off valve.
What Changed
EASA Airworthiness Directive 2024-0123 supersedes AD 2018-0077 and requires replacing hydraulic line restrictor check valves that have a filter screen with serviceable check valves without a filter screen. This change is based on service experience showing that filter screens can become clogged or damaged, causing slow main landing gear extension. The directive cancels the previous service bulletin and introduces a new one with updated replacement instructions.
Why It Matters
This directive is critical for maintaining the reliability of the main landing gear hydraulic system on affected Fokker F28 aeroplanes. Failure to replace the affected parts could lead to incomplete landing gear extension, increasing the risk of aircraft damage during landing and potential injury to occupants. Operators and maintenance organizations must comply to avoid operational disruptions and ensure safety.
What To Do
Operators of Group 1 aeroplanes must replace each affected hydraulic line restrictor check valve with a serviceable part within 48 months from 12 July 2024. Installation of affected parts is prohibited on all aeroplanes after the effective date or after modification, as applicable. Compliance must follow the instructions in Fokker Services Service Bulletin SBF100-32-176 Revision 1 dated 28 February 2024.
