What to do
Operators must replace components before exceeding the new life limits specified in the updated ALS and revise their approved Aircraft Maintenance Programme within 12 months of the effective date. If the AMP already incorporates previous ALS revisions, operators must ensure compliance with the new or more restrictive limitations within the specified compliance times. Documentation of compliance is maintained through AMP revision.
Summary
EASA Airworthiness Directive 2024-0164 is an amendment addressing the Airbus A300-600 and A300-600ST aeroplanes. It updates the Safe Life Airworthiness Limitation Items in the Airbus A300-600 Airworthiness Limitations Section Part 1, Revision 03. This directive mandates compliance with new and more restrictive maintenance limitations to ensure continued airworthiness.
What changed
This amendment supersedes EASA AD 2022-0173 and introduces new or more restrictive life limits and maintenance intervals as specified in the latest Airbus A300-600 ALS Part 1 Revision 03. It compiles changes approved since the previous revision and requires operators to update their maintenance programs accordingly.
Why it matters
The directive is critical for aviation professionals because it ensures that maintenance and replacement of components are performed within updated safety limits, preventing unsafe conditions. Operators and maintenance organizations must adhere to these revised limitations to maintain regulatory compliance and aircraft safety. Failure to comply could result in grounding or unsafe operation of affected aircraft.
