Summary
The Special Airworthiness Information Bulletin SAIB: CE-11-08 is an FAA informational bulletin addressing fuel storage concerns on Cessna Models 206 and 207 aircraft equipped with Sierra Industries STC SA3634SW or SA3853SW auxiliary fuel tank bladders. The bulletin does not mandate regulatory action but provides safety recommendations.
What changed
This bulletin introduces awareness of a fuel quantity measurement issue related to auxiliary fuel bladders installed under Sierra Industries STCs SA3634SW and SA3853SW on Cessna 206 and 207 aircraft. It recommends allowing at least five minutes for fuel to settle through the bladders before checking fuel levels and advises incorporating a temporary FAA-approved Airplane Flight Manual Supplement change.
Why it matters
This information is critical for operators and maintenance personnel to prevent fuel exhaustion incidents caused by inaccurate fuel quantity readings. Understanding and following the recommendations can enhance flight safety by ensuring accurate fuel management. Compliance teams benefit from awareness that no airworthiness directive is currently required but should monitor for future developments.
