Summary
Federal Register Volume 86, Number 130 (July 12, 2021) - Airworthiness Directive 2021-14-12 is a final rule issued by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) addressing all True Flight Holdings LLC Models AA-1, AA-1A, AA-1B, AA-1C, and AA-5 airplanes. This directive mandates inspections of the horizontal stabilizers for bondline corrosion, delamination, cracks, buckles, rust, and previous repairs to ensure structural integrity and flight safety.
What changed
This new airworthiness directive introduces mandatory inspections of horizontal stabilizers on specified True Flight Holdings LLC airplane models due to identified bondline corrosion and delamination issues. It requires operators to inspect, repair, or replace affected parts and apply corrosion inhibitors as necessary. The directive excludes some models covered in the related service bulletin and does not include the reporting requirements specified in the service information.
Why it matters
This directive is critical for aviation professionals because it addresses a safety risk that could lead to loss of elevator control and potential loss of the airplane. Operators and maintenance organizations must ensure thorough inspections beyond routine checks to detect corrosion and delamination that could compromise structural integrity. Compliance helps prevent accidents and ensures continued airworthiness of the affected aircraft fleet.
