What to do
Operators of Gulfstream G280 aircraft with serial numbers 2001 through 2162 must comply with Service Bulletin 280-27-335 revision 1 or a later approved revision within eighteen months from the effective date of 31 August 2025. This involves performing the empennage electrical harness retrofit and the additional inspection task as detailed in the service bulletin. For further information, contact the Civil Aviation Authority of Israel's certification department.
Summary
Airworthiness Directive ISR I-27-2025-03-06 R1 is issued by the Civil Aviation Authority of Israel and applies to Gulfstream G280 model aircraft with serial numbers 2001 through 2162. This directive addresses the retrofit of the empennage electrical harness to prevent water accumulation in electrical connectors located in the aft fuselage below the empennage. The retrofit aims to enhance flight control safety by mitigating potential unsafe conditions caused by electrical connector failures.
What changed
This revision 1 of AD ISR I-27-2025-03-06 updates the original directive by including an additional inspection task as specified in Service Bulletin 280-27-335 revision 1 dated 28 July 2025. Operators are now required to comply with the updated service bulletin or any later Civil Aviation Authority of Israel approved revision. The effective date for this revision is 31 August 2025.
Why it matters
This directive is critical for aviation professionals as it addresses a safety risk related to empennage flight control electrical connectors that can be compromised by water ingress. Compliance ensures the continued airworthiness and safe operation of affected Gulfstream G280 aircraft. Maintenance and compliance teams must incorporate the updated inspection and retrofit tasks into their scheduled maintenance to avoid operational restrictions.
