Summary
Brazilian Airworthiness Directive 2020-05-01 is a regulatory document issued by the Agência Nacional de Aviação Civil (ANAC) that applies to Yaborã Indústria Aeronáutica S.A. ERJ 170 series airplanes equipped with specific Embraer Control Yoke Assemblies. The directive addresses a safety issue related to the incorrect installation of horizontal stabilizer pitch trim switches on the control yokes.
What changed
This directive introduces a mandatory modification requiring the installation of a support on the control yoke to prevent incorrect installation of the horizontal stabilizer pitch trim switches. It also prohibits the installation of certain Embraer Control Yoke Assemblies after the modification date and provides credit for previous compliance actions according to specific service bulletin revisions.
Why it matters
This directive is critical for aviation professionals because incorrect installation of the pitch trim switches can cause opposite commands to the horizontal stabilizer, posing a safety risk. Operators and maintenance teams must ensure compliance to maintain aircraft safety and regulatory approval, avoiding potential flight control issues.
