What to do
Affected operators must replace life-limited components before exceeding the updated limits from the effective date of the AD. Within 12 months of the AD's effective date, they must revise their approved Aircraft Maintenance Programme to incorporate the new limitations. Compliance with previous ALS revisions may provide credit, but new tasks must be accomplished within specified times.
Summary
EASA Airworthiness Directive 26-016 is a proposed amendment affecting Airbus A330 aeroplanes, including models A330-201 through A330-941. It updates the Airworthiness Limitations Section Part 1 related to Safe Life Airworthiness Limitation Items. This directive ensures continued airworthiness by mandating compliance with the latest Airbus A330 ALS Part 1 Revision 14.
What changed
EASA AD 26-016 supersedes the previous AD 2024-0213 and introduces new and/or more restrictive maintenance tasks and life limits as specified in Airbus A330 ALS Part 1 Revision 14. It requires replacement of life-limited parts before exceeding new limits and mandates updating the Aircraft Maintenance Programme accordingly.
Why it matters
This directive is critical for aviation professionals to maintain the safety and airworthiness of Airbus A330 fleets. Operators and maintenance organizations must comply to avoid unsafe conditions caused by exceeding life limits or missing updated maintenance tasks. It ensures regulatory compliance and helps prevent potential in-service failures.
