What to do
Operators of PZL M28 02 (including M28 02-W variant) and M28 05 aeroplanes must inspect the rudder control system bracket to frame 29 and associated mounting components before the next flight after 15 October 2025, following the instructions in PZL Service Bulletin E/12.152/2025. If any damage is detected, corrective actions must be completed before further flight, either as specified in the service bulletin or through approved repair instructions obtained from PZL.
Summary
EASA Airworthiness Directive 2025-0221-E is an emergency directive addressing the rudder control system bracket to frame 29 on Polskie Zakłady Lotnicze Sp.z.o.o. PZL M28 02 (including M28 02-W variant) and PZL M28 05 aeroplanes. It mandates a one-time inspection of the frame 29 and rudder control unit mounting components to detect damage that could compromise rudder control. This directive applies to all serial numbers of the affected aircraft models.
What changed
This new emergency airworthiness directive introduces a mandatory inspection requirement for the rudder control system bracket to frame 29 on specified PZL M28 aeroplanes. It requires operators to inspect the affected parts before the next flight after the effective date and to perform corrective actions if damage is found. The directive is based on a service bulletin issued by PZL providing detailed inspection and repair instructions.
Why it matters
This directive is critical for aviation professionals because undetected damage to the rudder control system could lead to loss of rudder control and reduced aircraft controllability, posing a significant safety risk. Operators and maintenance organizations must comply promptly to ensure continued airworthiness and regulatory compliance. The emergency nature of the directive highlights the urgency to prevent potential accidents related to this issue.
