EASA AD 2025-0184
Doors — Sliding / Plugging Cabin Doors — Inspection / Modification
Summary
EASA Airworthiness Directive 2025-0184 is an airworthiness directive affecting Airbus Helicopters AS 332 C, C1, L, L1, L2, and EC 225 LP models. It addresses inspection and modification requirements for sliding and plugging cabin doors to prevent structural failure of the door fittings. The directive mandates inspections and possible modifications to ensure the continued safe operation of these helicopter cabin doors.
What Changed
EASA Airworthiness Directive 2025-0184 supersedes the previous AD 2015-0167 and introduces a requirement to inspect cabin lateral doors for pre-mod 0726841 fittings. Depending on inspection results, it requires installation of placards, prohibition of door operation in flight until modification, and re-identification of doors to the post-mod 0726841 standard. This AD also clarifies installation rules for sliding plug doors on affected helicopters.
Why It Matters
This directive is critical for aviation professionals because it addresses a known unsafe condition that could lead to in-flight detachment of cabin doors, risking damage to the helicopter and injury to occupants or people on the ground. Operators and maintenance teams must comply to maintain airworthiness and ensure passenger safety. Compliance with this AD prevents potential accidents related to door structural failures.
What To Do
Operators must inspect the left-hand and right-hand sliding-plug cabin doors within 7 days of 1 September 2025, following the Emergency Alert Service Bulletin instructions. If pre-mod 0726841 fittings are found, placards must be installed immediately, and door operation in flight prohibited until modification and re-identification are completed within 110 flight hours or 6 months. Doors without pre-mod fittings must be re-identified within 6 months. Only post-mod 0726841 doors may be installed from the effective date.
