EASA AD 2025-0138
Oxygen — Chemical Oxygen Generators — Replacement
Summary
EASA Airworthiness Directive 2025-0138 is an airworthiness directive issued by EASA affecting Airbus A350-941 and A350-1041 aeroplanes. It addresses the replacement of certain chemical oxygen generators installed in these aircraft due to issues with the clamp holding the oxygen generator in place. The directive applies to all manufacturer serial numbers of the specified Airbus A350 models.
What Changed
This new directive requires the replacement of affected chemical oxygen generators that were installed using outdated maintenance procedures with serviceable parts. It prohibits maintenance actions using the previous maintenance procedure task and forbids installation of affected parts from the effective date. The directive introduces updated maintenance instructions and replacement requirements to address the unsafe condition.
Why It Matters
This directive is critical because the clamp used to secure the oxygen generator was changed without proper torque specifications being updated in Airbus documentation, potentially causing damage to the oxygen generator housing. If not corrected, this could reduce the available oxygen supply during emergencies, posing a safety risk to aircraft occupants. Operators and maintenance organizations must comply to ensure continued airworthiness and passenger safety.
What To Do
Operators of Airbus A350-941 and A350-1041 aeroplanes with affected parts must replace each affected chemical oxygen generator with a serviceable part within six months of 15 July 2025. From the effective date, no maintenance should be performed using the outdated maintenance procedure task, and no affected parts should be installed on any aircraft. Compliance must follow the instructions provided in Airbus Alert Operator Transmission A35P024-24.
