EASA AD 2025-0114
Equipment / Furnishings — Lavatory Floor Fittings — Inspection
Summary
EASA Airworthiness Directive 2025-0114 is an airworthiness directive issued by EASA concerning Airbus A330-841 and A330-941 aeroplanes. It addresses inspection requirements for lavatory floor fittings installed in SAFRAN D/E and L/M, S/T, Hs/Ks lavatories to detect corrosion and prevent potential detachment of lavatory modules. The directive mandates repetitive general visual inspections and corrective actions to ensure continued airworthiness.
What Changed
This new airworthiness directive introduces mandatory repetitive inspections of affected lavatory floor fittings on Airbus A330-841 and A330-941 aircraft. It requires operators to perform inspections following Airbus Service Bulletins and to carry out repairs or replacements as necessary. The directive also provides an option for terminating action by replacing affected floor fittings with serviceable parts and reidentifying the lavatories.
Why It Matters
This directive is critical for aviation professionals as corrosion on lavatory floor fittings can lead to detachment of lavatory modules, posing safety risks to cabin crew and passengers and potentially reducing evacuation capacity during emergencies. Operators and maintenance organizations must comply to maintain aircraft safety and regulatory compliance. It ensures that affected aircraft remain airworthy and safe for operation.
What To Do
Operators of Airbus A330-841 and A330-941 aircraft must perform initial and repetitive general visual inspections of affected lavatory floor fittings within specified compliance times, not exceeding 24 or 36 months depending on the lavatory type. Any corrosion or damage found must be repaired or the fitting replaced according to Airbus Service Bulletins. Replacement of affected fittings with serviceable parts and reidentification of lavatories can terminate repetitive inspections. Installation of affected lavatories on Group 2 aircraft is prohibited from the effective date.
