EASA AD 2025-0081: Exhaust — Noise Suppressor / Muffler — Inspection

What to do

Operators of SportStar RTC aeroplanes with affected mufflers must perform inspections within 3 months or 100 flight hours from 25 April 2025 and repeat every 100 flight hours thereafter. Any detected discrepancies require immediate replacement of the muffler before next flight. Installation of affected parts is only allowed if they are serviceable, and replacing affected parts with approved serviceable mufflers ends the need for repetitive inspections.

Summary

EASA Airworthiness Directive 2025-0081 is an official regulatory document addressing the inspection of exhaust noise suppressors or mufflers on Evektor SportStar RTC aeroplanes. It applies to all serial numbers of this aircraft model and focuses on exhaust mufflers with specific part numbers E6 18-10 01 index B/B or 766521 index I/I. The directive mandates repetitive inspections and potential replacement of affected mufflers to ensure continued airworthiness and safety.

What changed

This new Airworthiness Directive introduces mandatory repetitive inspections of the exhaust mufflers identified as affected parts on SportStar RTC aeroplanes. It requires replacement of any muffler found with discrepancies and sets conditions for installation of serviceable parts. The directive also establishes terminating action by replacing affected parts with approved serviceable parts, eliminating the need for further inspections.

Why it matters

This directive is critical for aviation professionals as it addresses a safety risk involving deformation of exhaust muffler inner pipes that could cause engine in-flight shutdown. Operators and maintenance organizations must comply to prevent potential emergency landings and damage to aircraft. Compliance ensures continued airworthiness and reduces risk of injury to occupants, aligning with regulatory requirements.
