What to do
Affected operators and maintenance providers do not need to take any further action regarding the ARTUS transfo-rectifier replacement as mandated by the cancelled AD. They should ensure that their maintenance records reflect the completion of the original modification and note the cancellation of DGAC France AD 89-023-001 R1. No new compliance deadlines apply.
Summary
EASA Airworthiness Directive 2023-0019-CN is a cancellation notice for the previous DGAC France AD 89-023-001 R1 concerning the electrical power system on Airbus A320-111 and A320-211 aeroplanes. The directive addresses the replacement of ARTUS transfo-rectifier units to prevent electrical failures affecting flight control computers. This cancellation confirms that all affected aircraft have been modified and the unsafe condition no longer exists.
What changed
EASA Airworthiness Directive 2023-0019-CN officially cancels the earlier DGAC France AD 89-023-001 R1, which mandated replacement of certain transfo-rectifier units on Airbus A320 aircraft. The cancellation reflects that the required modifications have been completed and no further action is necessary. No new compliance requirements are introduced by this cancellation notice.
Why it matters
This cancellation is important for aviation professionals as it confirms the resolution of a previously identified electrical power system issue that could have compromised flight control. Operators and maintenance organizations can be assured that the affected Airbus A320 aircraft have been properly modified, eliminating the need for ongoing special operational procedures or inspections related to this issue. Compliance teams can update their records to reflect the cancellation of the prior directive.
