What to do
Operators must replace engine components before exceeding life limits and perform all maintenance tasks within specified thresholds and intervals as per the updated TLM. They must ensure DAC tables in the life-usage calculator match the updated DAC Data Files. Additionally, the approved AMP must be revised within 12 months of the effective date to incorporate these changes, and any discrepancies found during maintenance must be corrected according to Rolls-Royce approved instructions.
Summary
EASA Airworthiness Directive 2019-0058R1 is a regulatory update affecting Rolls-Royce Deutschland Ltd & Co KG Trent 1000 series engines, including models Trent 1000-A2 through Trent 1000-L2. This directive mandates compliance with updated airworthiness limitations and maintenance tasks as specified in the Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 Time Limits Manual (TLM) Revision dated 12 December 2018. It ensures continued airworthiness by enforcing life limits and maintenance intervals for critical engine components.
What changed
EASA Airworthiness Directive 2019-0058R1 revises the previous AD 2019-0058 by clarifying that only tasks contained in two specific chapters of the Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 TLM are mandatory. It introduces new and/or more restrictive maintenance tasks and life limits, updates declared lives of critical parts, and revises Direct Accumulation Counting (DAC) Data Files. The AD also specifies requirements for updating the approved Aircraft Maintenance Programme (AMP) within 12 months.
Why it matters
This directive is critical for aviation professionals as it mandates updated maintenance and replacement schedules to prevent unsafe conditions caused by component failures. Operators and maintenance organizations must adhere to these revised limitations to ensure engine reliability and regulatory compliance. Failure to comply could result in grounding of aircraft or increased safety risks.
