Summary
EASA Airworthiness Directive 2018-0226-CN is a cancellation notice for the previous directive addressing inspection and repair of the horizontal stabilizer centre box top skin on Airbus A330 and A340 aeroplanes. The affected aircraft include various A330 and A340 models with specific manufacturer serial numbers as listed in the applicable Airbus Service Bulletins. This cancellation reflects that the inspection requirements have been incorporated into the Airworthiness Limitations Section, making the original directive redundant.
What changed
EASA Airworthiness Directive 2018-0226-CN cancels the earlier AD 2018-0226, which mandated repetitive inspections and repairs of the horizontal stabilizer centre box top skin on certain Airbus A330 and A340 aeroplanes. The cancellation follows the inclusion of these inspection requirements into the Airworthiness Limitations Section Part 2 for both aircraft types, as required by subsequent ADs 2021-0261 and 2021-0262. No further actions are required under this cancelled directive.
Why it matters
This cancellation simplifies regulatory compliance for operators and maintenance organizations by consolidating inspection requirements into the Airworthiness Limitations Section. It reduces administrative burden by removing the need to comply with multiple overlapping directives. Aviation professionals can rely on updated maintenance documentation for ongoing structural integrity assurance of the horizontal stabilizer centre box on affected Airbus A330 and A340 aeroplanes.
